Summer is here, and we are all out and about with our furry friends at the parks and beaches around the province enjoying the water and sunshine! It is great until you remember that you have to stop at the store. What are you going to do? We always say that if you have to shop you should never bring your pet along for the ride as it is far too hot for them to be waiting in the car even if you have a window cracked and parked in the shade. They can suffer from heat stroke in a matter of minutes! We have to remember that our fur kids are constantly wearing a coat and cannot sweat to cool off. In fact, all they can do to cool down is pant and sweat through their foot pads.
If you are out and about, there are plenty of businesses within the HRM that do accept dogs in their stores to prevent any emergent situations with our dogs. Also, remember to try and leave them home during the hottest parts of the day! It is best to take them out to play in the mornings or evenings.
Check out this link for a list of business where you are welcome to take your fur babies this summer!
